Outsiders response 1
If I could have a friend in the Outsiders It would be Soda because (on page 2; paragraph 2) it said he is very understanding. It says that he can understand everything. He rarely loses his temper and he treats you like you would want to be treated. He's always smiling with his happy go lucky style. He is not like the other greasers (on page 8; paragraph1) because he never drinks at all.
I agree Soda would be a good friend. Is there anything that would concern you? No high school degree? Maybe you could encourage him. ~Mrs. Best

Outsiders 2

With the fifth commandment in mind(Thou shall not kill), and I had killed someone like Johnny I would feel like I had done the right thing because he had killed him because ( ) it told me that part of Bob's gang was drowning Ponyboy, and since Johnny was smaller than Bob he would have to kill him to save Ponyboy. I would get supplies from someone and run away with Dally since ( ) Johnny's parents don't care if he comes back to their house. I would feel more safe with Dally since ( ) he is the toughest and he is not afraid to hurt anyone, and since Dally loves Jonny more than anybody. I would run to somewhere where no one goes.
I don't think running away would really be answer. Do you really think that would help? ~Mrs. Best

Outsiders 3

What Ponyboy finds out about Randy and the other Socs at the end of chapter 7 is that (page115 last paragraph) he is not going to show up at the rumble. On page 116 he said the only reason he fought is because he didn't want people to think he not tough enough but since his best friend ,Bob, is dead he is not going to do it. He said on page 117 it wouldn't prove anything, that he would forget if the Socs won and he would forget if the Greasers won . Ponyboy busted Randy's confidence when he said that he thought that if he were there Randy would have done it.
He 'busted' his confidence? What does that mean? Maybe you mean 'boosted' it. Raised it up. Yes, I think he helped Randy. But what did he learn about socs in general? ~Mrs. Best

Jack, I completely agree with almost all three of your responses. They are well written, and they show your actually reading the book. I agree with your first response and third response, but not your second. It's a very well written paragraph, but i don't think it is the right thing to kill Bob even if he was drowning Pony, he should have just threatened him with the knife not stab him, and kill him. If he threatened him with the knife he probably stop and get off.

I agree with that Jack that that would not have stopped them. They could have been killed. ~Mrs. Best

Outsiders 4

What I think it means when Two-Bit says: "The only thing that keeps Darry from being a soc is us" is that before his parents died he had a lot of friends, he was on the school football team. The reason he isn't is because the greasers are his friends now. They have become friends and he couldn't just leave them now. He is too close to the greasers to just leave them all of a sudden and become one of the ,Soc's, the greasers enemy. If they didn't care about him and Soda and Pony didn't care and want to stay a greasers. He would probably be a Soc.
Yes that is it! ~Mrs. Best
